"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

How do I elevate to a higher level?

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

July 1, 1980.

Leave it alone! There is no question of elevating to a higher level. Here it is only a question of understanding.

Ishvara is the manifestation of the five elements and the universe, the "I Amness". To the Absoloue, the witnessing of that "I Amness" occurs. This is the Absolute standpoint, siddha. This undertaking should not be claimed by you, who are a sadhaka. Sadhaka means getting established in the Ishwara principle, the consciousness.

who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
