"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Thus Spake Sri Rama

The sayings in this section have been collected from various sources like the Valmiki Ramayana, Adhyatma Ramayana and the Yoga Vasishtha Ramayana.
  • O Sage, the youth that is adorned with humility and brightened by qualities like kindness is youth beautiful. In this world, a youth of that description is very rare to find indeed.
  • Like frost destroying the lotus and the river destroying the trees on its banks, decrepitude makes an end of youth. To what ugliness does age reduce the body of man, playing havoc with his limbs!
  • The Goddess of Wealth is as restless as the waves. She does not stay with anyone for ever. So also, youth is very short. The pleasures that you get by enjoying a woman is just like a dream. Your lifetime is so little.

सर्वभूताधिवासं यद्भूतेषु च वसत्यपि।
सर्वानुग्राहकत्वेन तद्स्म्यहं वासुदेवः॥

That in whom reside all beings and who resides in all beings,
who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
