"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Aum

In Him who is the resident in the hearts of all beings, who is birthless and actionless, these births and activities as incarnations are described by the wise as a mystery which only revelation can explain. Without getting in the least attached or involved, He creates, sustains and withdraws this universe in sheer play as far as He is concerned, but not without a cosmic purpose. Being the master of all the six senses and possessed of unrestrained freedom, He permeates all beings and enjoys all objects through them without involvement.

सर्वभूताधिवासं यद्भूतेषु च वसत्यपि।
सर्वानुग्राहकत्वेन तद्स्म्यहं वासुदेवः॥

That in whom reside all beings and who resides in all beings,
who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
