"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Thus Spake Sri Rama

The sayings in this section have been collected from various sources like the Valmiki Ramayana, Adhyatma Ramayana and the Yoga Vasishtha Ramayana.
  • The world that is before us is fleeting like a dream. The mountain ranges that kiss the clouds today may within a short lapse of time be reduced to a plain stretch of land.
  • Everything in this world has to undergo changes - even childhood, youth and old age in the case of embodied beings. Everything is passing from state to state like waves.
  • Every single day sees the destruction of things as well as their generation; but this cursed world never comes to a close. Men are reborn as animals, the lower animals are again born as men; the gods are demoted. So where shall we look for permanence in this world?
  • The beauties of nature are as impermanent as flashes of light - Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra are rushing towards annihilation like the waters that flow into a desert.

सर्वभूताधिवासं यद्भूतेषु च वसत्यपि।
सर्वानुग्राहकत्वेन तद्स्म्यहं वासुदेवः॥

That in whom reside all beings and who resides in all beings,
who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
