"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Karma Insentient

Sri Ramana Maharshi

  • That alone is Knowledge which is neither knowledge nor nescience. What is known is not true Knowledge. Since the Self shines with nothing else to know or to make known, It alone is Knowledge. No void It is. The Self, which is knowledge, is alone the Reality. Knowledge of diversity is but false knowledge. This false knowledge, which is but ignorance, does not exist apart from the Self, which is Knowledge-Reality. Ornaments in their variety are unreal. Do they exist without gold, the substance?
  • Karma bears fruit; for, so the Creator ordains. Is Karma God, It is not sentient. The results of Karma pass away, and yet leave seeds that cast the agent into an ocean of Karma. Karma yields no salvation. But acts performed without any attachment and in the spirit of service to God, cleanse the mind and point the way to salvation.

That in whom reside all beings and who resides in all beings,
who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
