Sri Sarada Devi
Q: Does the Master really partake of the food that you offer to him?
A: Yes, he does. A light comes out of his eyes and licks all the articles of food. He eats the food-offering only for gratification of the devotees. The sacred prasada purifies the heart. The mind becomes impure if one eats food without offering it first to God.
****************************************************
There is no need to follow rituals in offering food to the Master. The Mantra one gets from one’s Guru is enough for everything.
*******************************************************
The Master used to advise his devotees to refrain from Shradha food, for such food is detrimental to Bhakti. With the exception of that, you can take any food after offering it to the Lord.
**********************************************
The Master will be your protector. You must live depending on him. Let him do good to you if he so desires, or let him drown you if that be his will. But you are to do only what is righteous, and that also according to the power he has given you.
************************************************
It never seemed to me that he had practised the different religions with any definite motive of preaching the harmony of religions. Day and night he remained overwhelmed with the ecstatic thought of God. He enjoyed the sport of the Divine by practising spiritual disciplines, following the paths of the Vaishnavas, Christians, Mussalmans and the rest. But it seems to me, my child, that the special feature of the Master’s life is renunciation. Has any one ever seen such a natural renunciation? Renunciation was his ornament.
