"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Being the Self is Moksha

Sri Ramana Maharshi

From Sri Annamalai Swami's Diary Extracts

Q: The puranas say that moksha means living in Kailash, Vaikuntha or Brahmaloka and having darshan of Gods there. Is this correct? Or does moksha only come when one merges with Brahman in the state where there is no knowledge of the body, the world and the mind?

M: Living in Vaikuntha and Kailash is not moksha. If everyone goes to Kailash and Vaikuntha, where will be space for everyone to live? If I must live and enjoy bliss with God, then God must be jada (inert). If he is jada, where can we enjoy bliss?

Then Bhagavan quoted verse 31 of ulladu-narpadu which describes the real state of liberation:

To one who has destroyed himself (his ego) and is awake to his nature as bliss, what remains to be accomplished? He does not see anything (as being) other than himself. Who can comprehend his state?
