"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Guru's Love

Sri Saradamma

Loving your Guru in the hope of getting Self realization is wrong. You should not want anything from the Guru except his love.

Q: But isn't loving a Guru in the hope that he will love you in return just as bad as loving him because you think that he will give you Self-realization?

Saradamma: No. Wanting the Guru's love makes your own love increase. If you want the Guru's love you must make every effort to think of him all the time. You must try to give him more and more and more of your love. Anything that makes you love your Guru like this is good.
