"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Thus Spake Sri Rama

The sayings in this section have been collected from various sources like the Valmiki Ramayana, Adhyatma Ramayana and the Yoga Vasishtha Ramayana.
  • When you dream of something, it seems real as long as the dream lasts. Similarly, to a man who always thinks of the senses and the pleasures derived therefrom, this world seems real.
  • He plunges into samsara to gain his own selfish ends. It is full of hatred, greed, jealousy etc. Mind is the creator of samsara and again it is mind that binds you to it.
  • Hatred should cease along with the other one's death. You should never hate a dead man.
  • If a man comes as a friend, how can I reject him? It is against the law of my life. Once a man surrenders himself, one should overlook all his faults.
  • When someone comes to me for refuge, I cannot disappoint him. This is my dharma. It does not matter if as a result I suffer. Even at the cost of my life, I must do the duty of mine. Never can I deviate from this.

सर्वभूताधिवासं यद्भूतेषु च वसत्यपि।
सर्वानुग्राहकत्वेन तद्स्म्यहं वासुदेवः॥

That in whom reside all beings and who resides in all beings,
who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
