"The very first step in understanding what this is all about is giving up the concept of an active, volitional 'I' as a separate entity and accepting the passive role of perceiving and functioning as a process." - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Mind has No Beginning

Sri Lakshmana Swamy

LS: Have you seen many gurus?

Q: Some, but it didn't make any difference. They could not help me to come nearer to myself.

LS: You saw only bodies. The guru is within you all the time. A master in bodily form is necessart if you want to realize the Self.

Q: Are you a master?

LS: Don't take me to be the body. You should not talk the guru to be the body. He is neither the body nor the mind, he is your own Self. He is ever-present.

Realization is nothing new; you are realized even now. It is only the mind that is making you think otherwise. In reality, the mind is non-existent; it is jada (inert). It is giving you all this trouble only because you do not look within to find out where it comes from. The mind has no beginning, but it can be ended by realizing the Self.

It is a non-existent thing which is causing all your troubles. It is like a thief entering into the Heart and enjoying a little bliss of the Self through the 5 senses. If you kill it, the Self alone will remain and you will be in eternal peace and bliss.

who is the giver of grace to all, the Supreme Soul of the universe, the limitless being:
I AM THAT. -- Amritabindu Upanishad
